In the pursuit of "cool"

This car is essentially my car's big brother.
The owner of this car, Jay taught me not to take every shortcut possible. The car game takes time, it's always better to see a car get truly cool over time the right way, over time. Not just have bullshit parts get thrown on right away to get it done, just to be "cool" and make their car look "good".

This car inspires me. I hope my car has as much character as this one by the time I'm "done" doing stuff to it.

And here I thought that blogs were so 2008: Here come new challengers!

What's up world?
I've noticed that most of the blogs that I follow are starting to wind down. I mean the big blogs that are actually financially backed, or updated by multiple people are probably never going to die, but I mean blogs like mine; down home, single authored blogs about life and shit. Not even just car blogs, though, they are the ones I follow most, but also music blogs, food blogs, and art blogs. I know it seems sorta creepy, but I enjoy getting to know people that I don't even know, and probably will never meet from what they decide to share with the world.
Now, I'm not going to say that I'm the saint of keeping my blog updated. Hell, 2009 is when I started to actually pay attention to posting here, and I'm still not even a "regular" poster. but right when I think that blogs are a thing of the past, BAM! Some homies show up to save the day! New reading material y'all!

This is a blog following the automobiles owned by my friends Christine(Kuro) and Gene(Liquid), along with random automotive blurbs mostly about rotary powered cars, 370Z's, and the local Chicago car scene.

This isn't necessarily a blog per say, seeing as it is a page on facebook. BUT! It serves the same function as a car blog: following and documenting the progress/lifetime of an automobile. It's headed by Kristin, the owner of a Bathurst Black 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe (it's NOT A TIB). I find the facebook page platform is genius, everyone is on facebook basically, and if a friend is a fan of the page, it's really easy to just stumble upon it. So random people can just follow it. DOPE.

This is a most fresh-faced of the newcomers. Managed by Mykee and Kelly, this is more of an online magazine that features good clean cool cars, that have character. Hell, for being a day old, it almost has more content that matters than "Geeky LURV" does haha.

Here's to future cool stuff coming out of all blogs! CHEERS!

First my car got high, then, it got naked

Say hello to winter mode....
Notice the height... compare this to a pic later in this post to see the difference. But not only did I raise the car, but I also removed a majority of my stickers. Now that may not seem like such a big deal, but it actually very much is to me haha. I only kept the stickers that would be hard to get again, or really mean something. These are all the stickers I have removed. It was a smaller pile than I thought it would have been.
Though winter mode does bum me out, and already having parts for next season bums me out too, with so many plans actually coming into effect and starting to look like they really will happen, I'm getting really stoked on next season. So for this post, I will leave you with this, my current favorite picture of the car. Taken by a friend of mine, Anthony Galvez aka Tony Stark.
Goal for next season: retake this photo with a reason to have a larger smile on my face.
OH! And Just to let you know, I picked up a new hobby, biking.
Here is my fixie with a semi sorta sneak preview of an upcoming sticker.
Now I realize this new hobby won't do me much good during winter, but it is something that can help me get fit and stay fit. So I'm stoked on it.

Wintermode is upon us

So I know I said I was gonna make a post about my cali trip. But I'm not really feeling it anymore. I have a draft of it half done, but with all the pics, it's just become a pain in my butt. So I'm just gonna get back to real life on the blog haha.

It's getting colder, and my car is still on low status. BUT, I have started to gather parts to prep it for winter. New rear shock, brake pads, tires, underbody spray, and other small things. With all my planning for winter basically complete, planning for next season has begun. Big things lol, but attainable things. Can't wait. Oh, and I missed you all.

Oh cool!

So, I'm back from California, and shit was fun. Can't wait to get back. Hopefully alone next time haha. I love my mom and all, but she was a kill joy on this trip. I made some very worth it impulse buys. And now I'm planning on buying a motorcycle. (Random right?)

So on to things from when I got back. The blog's got followers! I was at Touge Factory the other day, and I was talking to a homie of mine, Morris, when some dudes came in asking for sticker prices, and then out of nowhere, I hear, "Yeah, we follow his blog." and I was like HEY!

I don't know you guys, but thanks for reading! I'll get pics up and talk more about Cali in another post.

Oh summertime.

Summer's going well. It can be slow, but I was working for a bit, and I've been meeting quite a few new people, so I'm diggin it. I'm going to California for a few weeks, and I'm stoked about that, and there's really nothing else to say. I do indeed feel like I need to keep this more current, but I keep forgetting haha.

Parties are good, people are good, life is good.

I have fallen and refuse to get up

... Until winter haha.

This is kind of old news, but I lowered my car on Jay's old Omni Power coilovers a little more than a month ago. Took me three days, and quite a bit of elbow grease. I had a friend of mine do the fronts, and left it alone till the next day, and then started on the rears at a different location. Shit was fun, cuz I got to actually tinker around with my car other than cosmetic shit. The only problem was breaking old bolts.... that stuff was pissed me off. I ended up spending forty bucks on new bolts. Oh well.

Riding lower feels good, it's funny being eye level with people's door handles, the only thing is, my little stuffed animal on my tow hook has died... lol. I don't have much else to say. So.......... pics!
Summer is here, I'm working a lot. Cali will be good. See you in a few online readers. New painting is coming soon.

I miss it.

I wasn't always as big into this whole car thing as I am now, and lately it's been just school and cars. But before it was school and art and cars. That was back in high school, mostly just because in high school, I had real motivation, my AP studio art class. Man, I really do miss it. I haven't painted in MONTHS, and I've had that itch. I was looking through my old paintings and I kind of want to rework some of them, but on the other hand, I've been drawing like a madman lately; doodling in classes, drawing plans for new paintings, just drawing whatever pops up in my head. I miss having paintings due every two weeks, staying up until the sun comes up and taking a quick nap before having to go to school. I think I'm kinda going crazy. I need to get my art on for reals. This summer will be fore sure a good summer for art. I won't let it not be.

Pic of the post:

This photo was taken by my friend Izumi "Izi" Kato a little more than a year ago. This was near the end of my AP studio class, and I was painting a piece that I'm not really that proud of now a days. It's funny, because this is one of my favorite photos of myself. It's kind of weird seeing how clean this desk is now that it's not completely covered in art supplies. This desk is gonna be soooooooo messy this summer haha.

One month later...

Okay, so I'm slackin still. WHAT EVS!

It's been damn near TWO YEARS that I've been doing this blogging thing. And I always say that I'm going to actually do stuff to my car, but now, things are actually happening.

Prepare for a picture heavy post:

First up, I cleaned that black shit off my tail lights, looking so fresh and clean. I'm soooooooooooo happy, I feel like it's a new car every time I walk up to it from behind haha.
Next, NEW STICKERS! Don't need pics lol, they'll show up sooner or later. Oh, and you can see the new tow hook, iLL Garage, represent! haha. And, my tow hook, is not lonely.

I got a new set of coilovers from my buddy Jay, it's getting installed soon, just need a place to do it.
How the car sits now (this will be my before shot, an "after" shot will come some time soon):

Happy Mico!
THANK YOU TO CLIFTON FOR MOST OF THESE PHOTOS!!!!! BAD ASS YO!

A death in Japan, a super sad guy in Illinois

I feel horrible for not knowing this seeing as the man has been dead for nearly a month now. But Jun Seba, also known as Nujabes, the man responsible for the entire Samurai Champloo soundtrack has died. He was a hip-hop producer, and DJ from Japan, that put beats together like no other. Every song he was a part of has so much of his swag in it, and it's SO DOPE. I can't get over the fact that he won't be making anymore music.

Making weird noises to myself....

UUUURGH! AAAAAARGH! The fuck!? It's almost been two years since I've gotten into this car game shit.... FACK! And my car is still basically stock as bawls ahaha! But this is the summer of change. Though still only simple mods, I'm still going to have my favorite red 99 Si in Chicago.

But shits... I was googling some old shit from 08 when I actually started liking this shit, and I found what happens to be one of my favorite drifting videos of all time, and it's funny because there really nothing huge going on in it. It's just a fucking cool video. It's good drifting and all, but I mean, it's a figure 8 ahhaha. The thing that gets me about this right now, is that THESE GUYS ARE FUCKING BETTER NOW! This was like a month after the first meet I've ever been to, my first summer with my car (iLL Garage's grand opening at their first spot.) too bad it was later in the season... This is the first time I met REVGASM Josh, and I only met the guy for like 20 seconds then the rest of the time, I was too chicken shit to talk to him, so I just kinda stared at his car for like 10 minutes straight. It's kinda funny how he's my homie now haha, cool guy.

BUT BACK TO THE VIDEO! I first saw this video on Josh's blog after I figured out what Risky Devil was, and all that jazz (It's still kinda confusing, so I'm not gonna go into explaining it here.) And just the style, and love that I felt from this video, it's something FIERCE. This is one thing that tided me over my first winter with the civic, making me say to myself, FUCK I CAN'T WAIT TILL NEXT CAR SEASON, and, FUCK, I HAVE TO MEET THESE GUYS. A year and a half later, at the end of my second winter in this friggin scene, and I'm saying that same first thing, and I already did that second thing. But there are more people to meet, more shit to do, and more fun to be had. I CANT FUCKING WAIT TILL THIS NEXT CAR SEASON. SO much shit is gonna go down. UGH! ARGH! EF!

Enjoy:

12 years later... Lauryn Hill is still MAD DOPES. One of my favorite voices of the 90's. FUCK, children of the 90's are becoming the 20 year olds.

She's probably still fine too.

HONDUH

This is all YUMS.
Aight, so lemme break this down in the most simple form before blowing your mind... Silver, EK Hatch, Cool car, Girl's car, Cool girl, Cool girl's car, yes.

So on to mind blowing. If you've been reading this blog, I'm guessing that you noticed that I'm a Honda guy; and more specifically a civic guy. And when it comes to civics, If I'm going coupe, I'm going 99 Si, but if i'm going hatch, i'm going EK. I'm more of a coupe fan, but there's something about civic hatchbacks that makes me say... YUM. Now, one day months ago, when it was warm, I decide to kill time at the a spot I chill at before a Friday Night Lights meet (There will be coverage of the dopeness that is FNL this summer). I hear a girl ask "What kind of Honda do you drive?" I thought "The hell? Who knew I drove a Honda?" I turn around and see the girl who owns the car that this entire post is about: Sara Danker.
I asked her how she knew I drove a Honda, and she pointed out that I was wearing an iLL Garage shirt, and assumed that I was a Honda guy. (I'm personally very happy, that while wearing that shirt, I don't give off a douchey 240SX driver vibe. Not that all 240 drivers are douchey, but a lot of the ones in Chicago are.) After some cool conversing, she tells me about her car. A 96 Honda Civic.

I haven't seen this thing first hand, other than most likely driving past this thing a bagillion times driving around the entire Chicago land area. But soon hopefully, soon I will. I have pictures though! And from these pictures, I have fallen in love with this car.

The thing subtly screams cool, from the sleek "Vogue Silver" that you really don't see many EK modifiers go for, to her crown royal bag shift boot. I LIKE THIS CAR. Outside of the car, is plain and simple, nothing stupid awesome, it's low, got a cool exhaust, not an eye grabber to a non honda guy, but it's clean, really clean. On to the inside, on to more clean, if the purple Crown Royal bag shiftboot doesn't grab your eye first, you'll see that all her seats are from an RSX, that's kinda fucking dope(She's working on getting the heating element to work on them too. More dope? I'd say so). And resting on that leather in the back, is a RECARO baby seat, hells yes. Take a look up, and what do you see? Flannel, yes, flannel. Flannel roof liners are no longer just a VW thing. It's simple, and sweet to look at, but UGH... this thing is guaranteed to throw down. It's lowered on Omni's, (which I will be doing soon) and has a true bit of BADASS under the hood. Too bad what's under there is top secret. This car is more or less the way I'd build an EK. I digs it.

Enjoy the Pikachures:

Thirsty?
Warm butts soon

OH JEEZ.

MY STOMACH IS KILLING ME. It's been getting to me lately... FACKS for reals. I'm all acidic and shits. Whatevs though, I was kinda warm today, was kinda nice to be able to just enjoy outside at school for the first time in a while. In my very rare free time, in between homework, and homework, I'm not only enjoying what I can have of a social life, but I'm working on a new "Geeky Lurv" logo! I'm kinda stoked for it. I'm getting stickers made soon, it's kinda fun haha. Speaking of stickers.

Pics of the post:

This sticker is super coolsville to the max. Brian Harte (BH) is a super cools drift nut/hockey player/secret agent/man's man/ladies man from Long Beach, CA. I had the pleasure of meeting this guy at the party in the first pic. (The one in the hat) He hooked me up with some of his sticker, and it's dope, it's kind of an old pic, but it's still worth coverage. Here's Long Beach's finest, done Chicago style, salt mark decals and everything. I'm gonna put the pink one on once I clean the black stuff off my tail lights.

Oh Illinois

I LURV YOO!

Today was MAD cold, and it was sunny. That's all I have to say.

Pic of the post:

I have more to say about this picture than I do about my life recently. The blue Si, is Clif's, was Clif's from a few posts down. This was such a good day... it's such a shame what happened to this thing. He only had the thing, really had the thing for like a few weeks... UGH! This thing still is and always will be missed.
BUT! (Quoted directly from Facebook Chat)

i'm gonna get an em1 again someday

Well, this semester is kicking my ass as expected, no big though, I prepared lol. I was hoping to be let go from Target, that happened, I'm basically disappearing from social activities, and becoming a homebody, so yeah.

There really hasn't been anything new going on, I might be buying wheels, stoked about that. That's it really.

Pic of the post:

I miss summer, that's about it.
